The Greenheart TreeWalk is a 310-metre canopy walkway suspended high above the forest floor. Cross swaying bridges, pause on tree platforms and climb to a 23-metre lookout for a rare bird’s-eye view of Vancouver’s coastal temperate rainforest.

The Experience
A Bird’s-Eye Adventure
Step off the forest floor and into the canopy. Suspended walkways and tree platforms carry you through the heart of UBC Botanical Garden, weaving among towering Douglas firs, western red cedars and grand firs — many more than a century old.
Wander at your own pace or join a guided tour to discover the plants, wildlife and hidden ecosystems thriving overhead. The journey culminates at a 23-metre-high viewing platform with sweeping vistas across the rainforest.
Engineered With the Forest in Mind
No Bolts, No Harm
Unlike traditional treetop walkways, nothing is drilled or bolted into the trees. An innovative cable tension system suspends every platform safely.
Tree Hugger & Kissing Bar
Purpose-built features like the “Tree Hugger” cable and “Kissing Bar” stabilizer keep the walkway steady with minimal environmental impact.
Conservation First
Thoughtful engineering lets you experience the upper forest while preserving its delicate ecosystems for generations to come.

Open Tuesday to Sunday, and on statutory holiday Mondays. Please allow an hour or more to complete the TreeWalk.

Guided Tours
Explore With a Naturalist
Join a naturalist-led walk through the canopy and discover the region’s diverse ecosystems, how to identify the giants around you, and the traditional uses of plants by First Nations.
Keep your eyes open for bald eagles, woodpeckers, hummingbirds and owls. Guided tours are available for groups of 10 or more from April 1 to October 31.
Special Considerations
Know Before You Go
We want everybody to have a fun, safe and memorable time in the trees. A few things to keep in mind before you climb:
- Both hands must be free to hold the canopy guide ropes
- Small children must walk on their own or ride in an approved child carrier
- Strollers, walkers and wheelchairs are not permitted on the walkway
- Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult
- Closed-toe shoes are highly recommended
- No jumping, running or excessive swaying of the bridges
